During the men’s fashion week, I went to 15 fashion shows in Paris. Smalto was one of my favorite (with Junya Watanabe)…

The Smalto runway for the Fall/Winter 10-11 took place at the espace Herold.
The place was very nice; the white painting gave it a fresh look, and the low ceiling gave an emphasis on the runway.
Young Korean creative director Youn Chong Bak was able to create a beautiful collection inspired by Central Asia and Nature while respecting the Latin elegance of the Smalto heritage.
The theme perfectly matched the minimalist pop music chosen “the XX”, giving the stage a cold and dreaming atmosphere.
An icy range of colors, polished beige, black for the evening, thin figures combined with refined textiles gave such elegancy to the clothing.
I really liked the show and more essentially the clothes; however I would have loved to see little less “classic” models and perhaps some Korean models.
I was in South Korea a few months ago, and adding some Asian stoic faces would have been perfect for this icy environment.
