The Swiss manufacturer from ‘Le Brassus’ in the Vallée de Joux, Audemars Piguet, celebrates the iconic Royal Oak 40th Anniversary in Paris. The ‘Royal Oak 40 Years : From Avant-Garde to Icon’ exhibition will be held in Paris from June 6th to June 10th, 2012 at the Palais de Tokyo (13 Avenue du Président Wilson 75116 Paris).

On display is over 100 timepieces, from the very first Royal Oak made in 1972 to the latest models unveiled at the ‘Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie’, Geneva (Switzerland) in January 2012. I had the great pleasure of listening to two watchmakers talk about their passion.

It was an impressive demonstration of the calibre and precision being assembled by a watchmaker. I understood, with some technical difficulty, the operation of the ‘guilloche’ in haute horlogerie. The love of this craftsman for his beautiful old machine from 1918 was touching.

Congratulations to the craftsmen of Audemars Piguet for 40 years of beautiful work on the Royal Oak!
