Last week, I had the chance to meet with British designer Vincent Smith, founder of “Tailored by Mr Smith”. A native Londoner, Vincent Smith is an alumnus of the “London College of Fashion”. As a fresh graduate, his first professional venture was at Uniform Clothing Company.

Over the years, he became an expert creative pattern cutter for the most prestigious French fashion houses. For three seasons now, Vincent Smith has developed and perfected “Tailored by Mr Smith”, a small collection made with traditional tailoring methods near Montmartre, in the artsy 18th district of Paris.

Tailored by Mr Smith is a young, entirely handmade label mixing timeless sartorial with the intelligence and functionality of military garments. The fabrics are mostly Japanese (around 90%) and the rest is British.

These days, Tailored by Mr Smith is sold exclusively by Tomorrowland in Japan. Last month Hirofumi Kurino, co-founder and creative advisor of Japanese retail group United Arrows, told to me that Tailored by Mr Smith will be available next season at United Arrows.

Vincent Smith is also in the process of making a ready-to-wear line called “Mr Smith”, which is designed in Paris and produced by one of the best tailoring workshop in Italy.

It was a tremendous pleasure to discover and witness Smith’s vision of menswear and his beautiful garments. I hope you enjoy these exclusive photos from my visit!
