Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting bespoke shoemaker, Walter Steiger in Paris.

The workshop of “Steiger” was founded in 1932 in Geneva. But it was undoubtedly under the vision of Walter Steiger, son of the founder, master-shoemaker and designer that the house Steiger has taken off in Paris and internationally.

Currently, the most Parisian of Swiss shoemakers, Walter Steiger offers for women and men ready-to-wear (hand-welted shoes in Italy), made-to-order and for the luckiest ones, Bespoke service.

At the second floor of number 35 Matignon Avenue, I discovered the Steiger’s workshop with an incredible view of the Le Bristol hotel.

Bespoke service is made by master-shoemaker, former apprentice at the French association ‘Les Compagnons du Devoir’, Alexis Guyot. Nowadays, The young artisan shoemakers is helped by three young apprentices.

It was really a pleasure to discover the universe of the creator, Walter Steiger and the exceptional work of Alexis Guyot.
